How does this 9-foot Steinway look on me?

What a treat to play this beautiful instrument earlier tonight at Blackburn College:

Tried to fit it in the Jetta and take it with me, but … ;)

Iowa Love

The other day in Des Moines I did a video interview and performance of my new, as-yet-unrecorded song “Thanks But No Thanks” for Iowa Insider. Check it out here!

Today I’m a Cat

Today’s noon show at K-State was so much fun, I’d like to be an honorary Wildcat. Thanks for a great time, Manhattan! Let’s do it again sometime. :) Check out these photos and blog posted during the show: K-State Nooner . On my way to Springfield, MO for show #2 on the day …

Zig-zagging the midwest US

Hello from the VW Jetta on Interstate 80 between Des Moines and Iowa City, the third and final time we’ve traveled this stretch of road on this tour! My first -ever trip to IC tonight was fun, and last night’s show in DSM was so good, it’s poised to be a highlight of the tour when all the dates are done. … But I dare the rest of the tour itinerary to challenge it’s status. Let’s see what you’ve got!

It’s been such a great pleasure to play the last four shows with Roxi Copland. She and I aren’t done yet: tomorrow night we’re headed to Kansas City and later this month we’ll rendezvous in Chicago (Nov 21, to be exact). Check out the rad photo of her opening tonight’s show in Iowa City.

I hope you all are well and happy. I’m having so much fun seeing old friends and making new ones every day out here. Thank you for all the love and support. It’s as essential to me as the gas in my tank to keep this train a-rollin’.

Lots of love — shannon

Rocky Mountain High

I woke up in a Halloweenie winter wonderland this morning in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. Man! I love visiting that place. And last night’s show there was probably the best one yet in Boulder, thanks to all of you who came and brought tons of new people for me to meet. And special thanks to Jenny who gave us a cozy bed and homemade bread!

Next stop: Madison on Monday night! Check the tour page for all the deets. I’ll be playing with Madison’s Stephanie Rearick.

Long drive across the snowy plains today, the Rocky Mountains receding in the rear view. Definitely a treat, not a trick.

Lots of love — shannon

Fall Tour Is In the Air

Hi friends!

I’ve been on a bit of a brain vacation the last month or so. Sorry I’ve been out of touch, but I’ve been doing some really cool things like, for instance, getting married! I have been relishing the last month at home with my new husband and our garden and our kitchen and it’s been wonderful.

But by the end of this month, I’ll be back out on the road to visit you on an eight week tour, and I’m looking forward to that as well. Check out the tour schedule for new dates being added daily and let me know when I’ll be seeing YOU!

In the meantime, check out this awesome review of my Hotel Cafe show in LA at the end of the summer tour. Thanks, LA Music Blog. :)

I’ll be in touch soon. I hope y’all are well. Lots of love –shannon

New Shows Added in Sacramento and OC

Hey, all!

I have great news if you live in Sacramento or Orange County: two new shows have been added to my schedule, and — but wait, this is the really cool part — they’re both FREE and ALL AGES! Yahoooo!

Sacramento, it’s Friday, August 28th at the End of Summer Fest at Cesar Chavez Plaza downtown. Orange County, it’s Saturday, September 26th at The Gypsy Den. All the info and details can always be found here: shannoncurtis.net/tour.

I’m in a hotel room in Memphis as I write and looking forward to making a little tourist stop to the Stax Museum tomorrow morning before the drive to St. Louis. Oh, baby! :)

I hope y’all are well.

I heart New York!

Hey, everybody!

Last night was just an awesome day. Thank you to everybody who came out in New York city — at Best Buy in the afternoon and at Rockwood Music Hall last night — for the shows. So fun!! And to top it off, it was one of those days and nights in New York that make you believe it’s paradise — walking around in my dress in the balmy nighttime air, the whole world walking by me on the street. It was SO much fun. Can’t wait to do it again.
