ABOUT THE SHOW
80s kids is a dynamic mixture of high-energy music performance and emotionally nuanced scripted storytelling — supported by live synthesizer score and backdropped by consistently stunning immersive video art.
You’ll hear the songs of a-ha, Pet Shop Boys, OMD, and Depeche Mode … and also songs by Nik Kershaw, Bruce Springsteen, Don Henley, and more. It’s hit after hit for the entire 95-minute show, delivered with fun, infectious energy.
The story that ties the show together is centered on a narrative arc of growing up in the 80s, with a heartfelt and nostalgic takeaway that’s relatable to the current moment.
There is a natural singalong component to the show, and a pervasively joyous and fun feeling to the overall experience. It’s a smart, polished show that’s kid-tested and parent-approved!
STAGING & PRODUCTION
👉 Of note: our show is ridiculously easy to stage. All the mixing happens in Jamie’s onstage rack, and he simply sends a stereo feed to the house sound system and an HDMI cable to the projector. We are both on in-ear monitors, which also live in Jamie’s rack — meaning that we neither use nor need stage monitors.
Yes, you heard that right: two people, three inputs, no monitors. It’s the simplest show you’ll stage all year, yet it packs a terrific impact.
The production quality is very high on both the audio and video sides, and the show scales seamlessly from small to large venues.
There are just the two of us in our touring party. Lean and mean!
