So, you might be aware that I’ve been doing a bunch of house concerts over the last several months. And that’s because I’ve fallen in love with playing in people’s homes. These have been some of the most rewarding, unforgettable shows I’ve ever done: I set up my piano at a fan’s house and I play a concert for them and a bunch of their friends, with no up-front cost to the host. It’s intimate, unique, and ridiculously fun.
So I have this idea, but if it’s going to work, I’m going to need your help. Here we go:
I want to spend a few weeks on the road this summer doing a House Concert Tour. Just like it sounds, it’d be a tour made up of shows that I play in houses across the country — like, perhaps, YOUR HOUSE. As we start to plan, we need to gauge how many people are interested in hosting a concert on the tour. If enough people say they’d like to host a show, we’ll stitch together a route and I’ll hit the road this summer and make my way to living rooms and yards and back decks everywhere.
I’m willing to go wherever the routing takes me, as long as we get enough people in the region to volunteer. So if you’ve been wanting me to come to your town on tour, here’s your chance to make that happen. You might not even have to get out of your PJs to come to the show. Actually, wait … maybe you should put on pants.
If you’re interested in hosting a house concert on this summer house concert tour, send me an email right now at skc@shannoncurtis.net and we’ll start the conversation. We’ll give you more details about how it all works once we know you’re interested. Sending me an email now doesn’t commit you to hosting, but it’s a way for us to see if we can make this thing fly. So if you’re intrigued, let me know!
