A cab to a train to a bus to a plane… to Nashville!

Hello, friends!

Sunday was a day of planes, trains, and automobiles for me to get to Nashville, but I got here in one piece and excited to make some great recordings!

Yesterday was day 1 of recording, and what an exciting, productive day! We had an amazing band here to lay down basic tracks for 4 songs. Allow me to introduce our little team: Charlie Peacock (producer, keyboards), Richard Biggs (engineer), Steve Brewster (drums, percussion), Mark Hill (bass), and Jerry McPherson (guitars, other stringed instruments). Every one of these guys is so amazingly talented and kind and humble and a total pleasure to work with. I can’t wait for you to hear the work they’ve done.

We did basic tracks for 3 new songs — “I Like to Think,” “Lay Me Down,” and “Why Don’t You Stay?” — as well as for a new version of “Boomerangs & Seesaws.” The sounds are terrific.

So far today, Charlie is at work with editing the parts we did yesterday and adding some overdubs. I’ll give you the full report soon, but if you’d like to follow along as the action progresses, come join the group of us over at Twitter doing just that.

Still working on getting my technological act together, and when I do, I’ll post the pictures I’ve been snapping here at the studio. Until then, have a terrific day! Listen to good music and treat yourself well.
